Import Cargo Clearance Tracking

Track an import cargo through arrival, entry into a bonded area, import declaration, acceptance and removal using a B/L number or cargo management number.

Enter one of a House B/L number, a Master B/L number or a cargo management number. When you track by B/L number, also select the year of arrival. The Korea Customs Service provides cargo data for the last 3 years only.

For personal goods bought from overseas, enter the express waybill number as the House B/L.

Where to find the number

  1. House B/L number

It is in the B/L No. field of the bill of lading or air waybill (House AWB) issued by the forwarder, and also on the forwarder's arrival notice. For personal goods bought from overseas and delivered by an express courier (DHL, FedEx, UPS and so on), enter the waybill number as the House B/L number.

  2. Master B/L number

This is the number of the bill of lading or air waybill (Master AWB) issued by the shipping line or airline. Enter an air waybill number as 11 digits without the hyphen.

  3. Cargo management number

Customs assigns this 15 to 19 character number to each cargo on the manifest. It appears in progress notices sent by the forwarder or customs broker.

Progress stage terms
Manifest submitted
The shipping line or airline has submitted the list of cargo loaded on the ship or aircraft (the manifest) to customs. Under Article 135(2) of the Customs Act, the head of customs may require it to be submitted before arrival.
Manifest review completed
Customs has finished reviewing the submitted manifest.
Arrival report accepted
Customs has accepted the arrival report made by the ship's master or aircraft captain after the vessel or aircraft arrived (Article 135(1) of the Customs Act).
Discharge declaration accepted
The shipping line or stevedore has declared to customs where the cargo will be unloaded (Notice on Discharge, Unloading and Loading of Bonded Cargo, Article 15), and customs has checked it against the manifest and accepted it (Article 17 of the same notice). For air cargo this is called an unloading declaration.
Bonded area entry declaration
The cargo has entered a bonded area (a container terminal, bonded warehouse and so on) and the entry declaration is complete (Article 157 of the Customs Act). The Entry/removal details column shows where it came from, such as entry on arrival or entry by bonded transport.
Bonded transport declaration received, accepted
A bonded transport declaration was filed to move cargo that has not yet cleared import to another bonded area (Article 213(2) of the Customs Act), and customs accepted it. Cargo unloaded at Busan port goes through this stage when it moves to an inland bonded warehouse.
Removal declaration
The cargo has left the bonded area. A bonded transport removal means it left to move to another bonded area. A removal after acceptance of the import declaration means it left after clearing customs.
Inspection or quarantine
The result of an inspection or quarantine check for goods with import requirements, such as food or electrical products, has been registered. The inspecting body and the result (for example, passed) appear in parentheses. The import declaration is accepted only once the requirements are met.
Import declaration
The customs broker or cargo owner has declared the goods' name, specification, quantity and price to the head of customs (Article 241(1) of the Customs Act). The declaration must be filed within 30 days of the date the cargo entered the bonded area (Article 241(3)), and for goods set by presidential decree an additional tax applies after that period (Article 241(4)).
Review in progress
Customs is reviewing the content of the import declaration. This stage can take longer when a document submission or an inspection of the goods is ordered.
Acceptance of import declaration
The head of customs has found the declaration in order and accepted it (Article 248(1) of the Customs Act). Until acceptance, the declared goods may not be removed from where they are kept (Article 248(3)).

Frequently asked questions

The result says nothing was found.

If you tracked by B/L number, first check the year of arrival. Cargo that departed at the end of one year and arrived after the new year is found under the year of arrival. Cargo whose manifest has not been submitted yet, and cargo older than 3 years, is not found either. Try switching between House B/L and Master B/L.

The same number returns several shipments.

A list appears when several shipments use the same B/L number. Check the arrival date and shipping line, then select the right shipment to track its progress stages.

By when must the import declaration be filed?

Within 30 days of the date the cargo entered a bonded warehouse or designated storage area (Article 241(3) of the Customs Act). In the progress stages, the processing date and time of the entry declaration is the entry date.

What happens after the import declaration is accepted?

The cargo is removed from the bonded area and transported. The declarant or cargo owner can obtain the certificate of import declaration (Article 248(1) of the Customs Act).

Is the number I look up stored?

No. The number you enter is used only to send the lookup request to the Korea Customs Service UNI-PASS, and the result is shown only on this page. To prevent excessive lookups in a short time, only the number of lookups per connection address is kept, until the end of the day.
