Frequently asked questions

We currently use another customs broker. Can we switch? Ask the carrier or express carrier handling your cargo to designate Ubis as the customs broker for clearance, and send the shipping documents to Ubis from the next shipment.

How many days does clearance take? It depends on the result of the customs review. If the goods are selected for inspection, clearance is delayed by about 1 business day, and goods subject to requirements are accepted after the requirements are confirmed. If you tell us the product before shipment, we check the necessary requirements in advance.

What changes when we become an approved exporter? Under the Korea-EU and Korea-UK FTAs, RCEP and other agreements, an approved exporter can issue certificates of origin itself, or submits fewer supporting documents when having them issued. Company-level approval applies to all agreements and products, product-level approval applies to the HS 6-digit products under the approved agreement, and the validity period is 5 years.

By when should customs duty drawback be claimed? It is claimed within 5 years of the date the export declaration is accepted. As a rule, the raw materials must have been imported within 2 years counting back from the export reference date.

Which companies can receive simplified fixed-amount drawback? Producers that are small and medium-sized enterprises and whose drawback amount was KRW 800 million or less in each of the previous 2 years and in the current year up to the claim date. If the exporter and producer are different, the producer claims directly.
